Where can I find more information on these birds?

I just obtained a pair and they currently have 2 eggs in the nest and one I found on the floor of the cage when cleaning today.

Can they be mixed with other species?
I also have a pair of male Spice Finches in a separate cage.

I really don't know anything about these birds myself but I think there are several members on the forum that will be along soon to answer your question about them.

This is the first pair of bronze winged mannikins I have had, although I have had Zebras in the past and currently the 2 pairs I mentioned in my first post.

Welcome to the forum! I own a pair of Bronze wings and there sitting on there first clutch of eggs. They can be housed in a mixed flight as long as there is plenty of space. I currently have mine in a flight cage with stars, cordon bleus, societies, orange cheek waxbills, gouldians, shaft tails and a ringneck dove. and they all get along just fine. But they have a flight cage that it 8ft long, 4 ft tall, and 2 ft wide.

They have laid 3 eggs and I have found two of them on the floor of the cage. Actually it's only a half of an egg with the yolk still intact.
Are they tossing the eggs or eating them?

If they are eating them...do I need to change or add to their diet??

They are currently on a high end finch diet, fortified with egg food and oyster shell.

a lot of birds will toss and/or eat any egg they lay that they consider to be no good. another consideration could be the type of nest they have, does it have a high front or is it more like an open canister laid on its side. the latter of these can be prone to eggs falling out when the adults either enter or exit the nest

The nest is an enclosed nest - looks like an egg with a hole about 1/2 way up - so I don't think the eggs could be getting knocked out. I suspect this is the first clutch for both birds so they possibly are not fertile.

I checked my bronzed wings nest today and they have 4 fertile eggs that they have been sitting on for about a week. Didnt know if they were fertile till i candeled them today. I am expecting hatchling by next weekend. Hope they care for them since this is there first time clutch. I hope you have better luck with your bronzed wings, Good luck!!
