Eye disease from having birds

Post by Finley16 » Thu May 25, 2017 8:53 am

Has anyone done any research on eye disease concerning poop from a bird...I have been reading that where bird poop can cause you to get an eye disease that causes you to go blind...It says when a bird poops it gives off something that goes airborne...I must say I find this concerning...I was thinking of calling the disease center...wondered what you all thought?
Love my pets..2 dogs..Maltese and yorkie..2 betafish, 2 fish tanks, and of course my ladygould finch..

I am assuming, that you are referring to Histoplasmosis.

Here is an article which you might find interesting:

There is always some chance of developing some sorts of issues when living with animals, birds and or others. Personally I'm willing to take my chances and wouldn't give up my pets.

Having lived all my life with animals, and most of my life with birds, I should be blind and who knows what else by now, lol.

If you are concerned you can go and be tested easily enough.
