Hi all
I hope someone may be able to help me.
I purchased a female society about a week ago and I have noticed that every night around 8 or 9 o'clock, she starts hopping incessantly backwards and forwards around the cage door like she is trying to get out??
I don't know why she does this. Is she frightened? Does she want to escape? Is she unhappy?
I also have a male zebra who is fast asleep on another perch who doesn't bother her at all.
She doesn't display this behaviour through the day, just at night before she settles down and eventually goes asleep.
Any ideas will be welcomed as I haven't got a clue why she's doing it.
Liz xx

I keep a string of blue ligts along my ceiling for a night light.they are always on some I my birds take a while to settle down even with light out so it gives them a light to be able too.Maybe she was close to another society and will just take a little longer ,If she doesnt want to go near the zebra make sure you have a perch as high as the one he sleeps on.Good luck they sure can keep us gussing

Thank you so much for your reply!
Yes I have a lamp on near the cage, not too bright, not to dim. So she can see properly.
Oh I never thought that maybe she had a mate at the pet shop! Oh I feel so bad now that she might be looking for her mate to settle down with at bed time!
Will she forget about him and couple up with my zebra?
She does sleep on a perch near him that is the same height as him, but doesn't snuggle with him at all.
I hope she settles in soon and accepts it as her home. I would feel terrible if she was missing someone back at the pet shop.

Haha no thank you!
I would end up with a new pair every week!
I am looking at bigger cages so maybe in the near future I'll be overrun with finches.
