Honey, you don't just throw in a new bird.
Always good to quarantine first for at least a couple of weeks. Then take your gal out of the cage, change things around in the cage, then put both in together at the same time.
Just imagine if your parents brought home some bloke you've never laid eys on before, and stuck him in your bedroom, lol.

It's hard to say with Pet Shop birds, because you don't know what sort of secret genes are hidden in those feathered little bodies.
Just think of it as Christmas morning surprises, you won't know untill they hatch and feather up for you.
Once you have one clutch, it will give you an idea for future kids.

Four months seems awfully young to be breeding a female.

Ideally you wait til they are 6-9 months old. I personally wouldn't breed a 4 month old female, even if they CAN breed, doesn't mean they SHOULD breed that young. Nice birds though. One day I hope to have some black cheeks. I'd really love some Black Cheek CFWs.

Well she is now 6 month and a few days she laid a few eggs about a week after this post but didn't hatch she hasn't been allowed to breed now I've waited abit until she's 6 months old
And yes the black cheeks are nice and they are quite common in the pet shops near me

Wow, I wish black cheeks were common in pet stores here! When I have room I will have to buy some and have them shipped to me. I'm glad to hear all is good
