Hey there, I just found out through people in the forum that I may have a Canary. Possibly a frilled canary. Or a Frilled Canary/Finch. I have no idea!! I took this bird in from a person who was pet sitting the bird at her job. She is not a real pet sitter just a friend of the owner. The owner no longer wanted the bird and it didn't get proper care. So I took in the bird. My partner and I named it Da Finche under the impression it was a finch. That's what I was told it was.... But now I'm not so sure.

She is 100% a canary. A female house finch is lighter, greyer, with a differently shaped face.

And a male house finch would be red.

I think that is mule of a house finch x canary.
here is some pics of mules of canaries with house finches. but not 100% sure as hybrids are very difficult to identify sometimes.
I would only be 100% if i hatched the bird. Other then that whoever has hatched hybrids of different serins and carduelis species knows what im talking about. this hybrids depending of the color of canary will be red factor or yellow factor

I just don't see any house finch traits in this bird.

Canary... the feathers in the back might have something to do with damage to the feather shafts, diet.
