Yep have bred loads of these little guy's over the years Elana,

There a British softbill that used to be on schedule 4 licensed by DEFRA ( department of environment of foreign rural affairs)

Nowadays they are kept and exhibited on open general license but need some kind of breeders document for proof of captive breeding,

I hardly keep many British birds now as I'm more so specialising in me waxbills

They look absolutely hilarious in the pictures, so I can only imagine them in real life. I'd be sitting there watching them all day....and they'd be watching me with those funny little faces oh my god.

How big are they, Stuart? compared to say a Gouldian?

Thanks for the article, I enjoyed reading it. I guess not the bird for me though, what with all of their needs of running water, ponds, etc.... sigh.... I do love their funny looks though, and think they'd be hilarious to watch.

Sadly I think that these guys will have to be an unrealized dream for me. They seem to need way more space than I'll ever have, plus are way too high maintainance
