If I hold finches for you, with no deposit ...SHOW UP

Just a reminder to all our wonderful finch owners that have only a day or two a week to rehome their finches during season.

Its OK to demand that person let you know when they are to show up, and stay on YOUR schedule. We are hobbyists , not breeding factories. And our real income is our 9-5 jobs.

So if we HOLD finches for you without any money, and we keep our word for 1-2-3 weeks to hold finches (eventhough our phones are ringing off the hook with immediate offers) For pete's sake, BE THERE, set a solid time when we are available. And SHOW UP.

Im laid back by nature, but I have a window of time to meet with people . I had 6 people scheduled to meet with me this weekend and 2 showed. And I arranged all my errands around their schedules. Im Not happy.

Respect your breeders.

Gosh, that sucks. You'd think they'd at least have the decency to tell you they wouldn't be there, but I guess they don't have anything to lose if they don't keep their word...

Maybe I should sell finches on a first-come, first-serve basis..?

At this point, I have to agree.

I've had people fail to show up but not very often. I do cut them a bit of slack if they are a bit late.
BUT~~ if someone wants me to hold them until tomorrow or next weekend I won't turn away another buyer that shows up in the interim. Without ability to process credit cards it is impossible to secure deposits to hold a bird so that is not a viable option.

My wife and I have talked about this often.

Most of the problems that we face in our own lives, in our community and in our nation would be gone if people would respect each other. Being on time or calling if things change are about respect for others.

I had the other end of the problem. Saw multiple ads on craigslist for finches, with pictures, home-looking pictures not obviously taken from the internet. Started emailing her. Set up a time since I had a doctor's appt in her city. Call her at end of appt to come over, she makes bizarre excuses as to why she isn't home and doesn't know what time she will be. Okay....we can come back this afternoon, call me? No answer for a few days. More emails--telling her which ones I'd like (she has all kinds of mutations), what I need, when we can come back. She answers, but not really, promises more pictures, (but I TOLD you which ones I wanted already), tentative times, then disappears when the weekend comes again. Several days later, she emails me, and starts it all up again. Friday morning, I email about coming down on weekend, again. No answer. Nothing. Until 7:38am Monday morning, with excuse that my email, which is reply #9 on this particular single thread of emails, "went to spam, so she didn't see it until now". (Really? Suddenly a continuing back and forth of replies goes to spam? Not likely.)

At that point I told her that I didn't understand her game, but I wasn't playing anymore. Goodbye. It had been over 3 weeks and over 20 emails. She sent me a huffy reply and disappeared.

Thanks for nothing, lady.

I used to hold finches that I took to the bird mart, with the agreement that the buyer would pick them up then. I passed up chances to sell the birds, and then the buyer never showed up. Learned my lesson. Without a down payment, it is first come, first served, unless it is someone I know and trust.
