Getting Bengalese Finches

Hello Everyone!
I’m getting a pair of Bengalese finches on Sunday, the 22nd of April! I am getting them while I’m away as there isn’t really any where I am (or at least I can’t seem to find any) I have contacted a few breeders there and the secretary of the local bird club and have now found a breeder in the NZFBA who is willing to sell me a pair! The male is a confirmed male but the female is not actually confirmed so it could turn out to be a male...
Anyway I have a few questions about Bengalese finches that I’d like to ask, before I bring them home!
1. If I do end up with two males, can they still foster chicks and will they be able to hatch zebra finch eggs?
2. Can I put a nest in as soon as I bring them home?
3. If they are a pair, how soon can I expect eggs?
4. Are they territorial of their nests where there are other birds around, eg zebs or canaries.
5. How long is incubation period, how soon do young ones leave the nest and how old are they when they can be weaned?
6. I’m getting a pied white and a fawn (hopefully), so I’m just wondering if these colors are dominant, sex linked or recessive and what colors will I be likely to get from them? (If they’re a pair)
Thanks!!

Firstly yay ur gonna love them haha !!
1) yes they can still foster chicks they are actually better at it two males
2) yes you can put a nest in straght away and society’s seek to love hay for nesting material
3) if they are a pair you could expect eggs after a week or two
4) in an aviary they will be fine mine just jump out and scare other birds off if they land on top but they aren’t agressive
5) everything like that is pretty much same as zebras
6) I’m guessing it’s going to be a pied due to it being white and fawn, if it’s a double factor you will always get pieds but if it’s a single factor pied then you can breed with a self to get more selfs
By the way what colour is the other one

Okay thank you so much!!
So I think one of them is a fawn and the other one is a white that’s a heavy pied but I haven’t actually seen them.

Oh wow that’s awesome! I can’t wait to breed them then! (That is if the female is actually a female)

I hope the fawn is a self- that would be nice.

Flight Feathers it’s upto you the crested will always passs on to the offspring but if you prefer the other then pick them
Have a look at them in person and see which you prefer

Also you can have a pair of three if you get one Male and two females which would be good then you also have healthier stronger chicks as there is more parents rearing

Okay thanks, I just love crested birds so I think I’m going with the crested but the breeder said he will catch them all so I can decide when I see them in person. Yes I looked up the crested gene and I was stoked that it was dominant! I don’t even think you can get crested where I live! (Although as I said I’ve never seen a bengalese finch for sale here anyway)

That would be great although at the moment I can only get one pair. The other female wasn’t confirmed so I’m just getting the one that I know is a female for now. Maybe later in the year when I go back to that place I may look into getting more bengalese. Can bengalese hatch zebra finch eggs in with their own eggs?

Flight Feathers yeah course they can you can have a mix have some zebbies and bengalease together in a bengalease nest society’s just feed any chick
And Yh that’s good then and will the person not let you pick the crested and ur farouite Male because they will re pair in no time anyway
You will notice if you have them in the aviary they sneak into other birds nest to feed their chicks

Okay that’s good to know.
Yeah they said I could have the young male and the crested female (which would be repairing) but they said I could just choose when I see them.
Haha I wonder what my Zebs are going to think.
