I have the opportunity on Friday to get
1 Gouldian Male
and 1 Canary Female
Hard to find birds in my area
I have a double wide flight cage with society finches
Would the male gouldian be lonely without a companion of his own kind?

Do they look ok?
The person is willing to deliver from a ways away.

Close up of gouldian in front of a mirror
The person also has male canary.
Most of the canary r young so not for sure if male or female
Which would be best with society? Male or female canary?
Can 1 male and female canary be together all year round in double wide flight cage

type timbrado canary
Anything I need to know about health or temperment about these type of canary?
Are there some type of canary more inclined to want to be solitary vs in an aviary type setting?

goldfinchowl - sorry, I'm no help on this topic. I've never kept societies and my situation is so different from keeping birds in a cage. All of my birds are in the outdoor aviary, I don't have any cages in the house.
In the past, I had a pair of canaries together all year round but then they did start breeding in late winter/early spring (not sure if you want to breed them). Also used to breed gouldians (lovely, colorful birds, quiet song, non-aggressive) for a number of years. Two years ago I ended up with two males (one my own, the other one rescued) and again no problems.
I hope somebody else will be more helpful.

isobea - thank you for responding. I don't wish to breed at least not at this time. Maybe down the road I might be tempted but for now just want compatible birds without any breeding.
