Picture below to me total beginner with gouldian, it looks like some are orange head and 1 is darker like red or burgundy?
Are they considered the same?
Just the lighting?
(Also do they look healthy,
I'm trying to find a companion for my
black headed, purple and yellow male, does a female need to be the same colors as him?)

Hello,

In your picture bellow, from left to right:

Yellow (Orange) Head, White Breast, Green Back (?), Male.
Red Head, White Breast, Green Back (?), Male.
Red Head, Purple Breast, Green Back (?), Female.

The reason I put question marks on the 'Green Backs', is because I cannot see their backs in the photo, but I'm guessing Green Backs.

These three birds appear to be mostly fine, but a bit puffed up... could be due to being a bit cold maybe.

What's their diet like? And do they have access to baths?

Regarding a mate for your Black Head, Purple Breast, Green Back (?) Male.
No, she doesn't have to be the same colour, although a female will respond better to a male with the same head colour.

lovezebs - thank you

The above is a picture of birds for sale on craigslist.
I am a little concerned that they look puffed up. We're not very cold in California.

Do gouldian cheep cheep cheep constantly? My male is cheeping almost constantly all day long.

As mentioned in another of your threads, it is not normal for male Gouldians to cheep alk the time.

He could be lonely or very stressed.
