It is hard to find much info about Gouldians. Most is about color.
Do gouldians need to be paired up male to female even ratio?
I currently have 4 young males.
3 from 1 batch
And 1 from the other
The 3 tend to be closer together and the other distant and alone.
He was the only for sure male from that batch. He seems depressed. Yesterday he was sleeping a lot with his head tucked under his wing. Not puffed up but just not active and not happy looking.
Tonight he was on one far side of perch and the other 3 on the far other side.
Should I get a possible female from the same batch as he?
Will he be ok by himself?
The person I got them from is going on vacation next week so if I need to get him a companion from his batch I need to decide this weekend.
Will he be ok and become part of the others with time?
My glasses broke today so I can't keep a regular watch on him, since I have to use my reading glasses to get up close to see them.
Do Gouldians need to be all same sex or else evenly paired like zebra finches?
Is 1 female with 4 males a recipe for trouble?
Do gouldian need to be 2 - 4 -6 like most finches?
Will the 3 males stay as a group or pair up in 2s?

Re. Gouldians
Usually Gouldians, are not as social and touchy feely as say Zebras or Society Finches.
If you have all males, then I would stick with all males, unless you wish to get them all mates and breed. Male Gouldians can be quite happy in each others company.
As to your one lonesome boy.
What you could do, is place him and one of the other boys in a seperate cage together, so that they'll form a bit of a bond with each other, before re- introducing them into the main cage.
