type of tail

Is the black one's higher crooked looking tail a type of society finch. The others don't have crooked tails.

Some birds just hold their tails like that. Usually you see it in males when they're singing.

I notice it with males but she is definitely a female.
And it is always that way like a little bump or hump. Like at the base of the tail.

That bump could be the preen gland. I have a Society that looks just about like your dark one. He has light or gray feathers between his wings on his back, and is light gray on the abdominal area. He also has a higher tail set. His song is different and I think he is a different variety of Society. He looks a lot like yours.

It can be if they was bred in a small nest or lived in a small cage as there feathers grew pouring upwards

I do agree with elena it’s usually males tho however could just be typical thing
