Female courtship behavior in Gouldian Finches

Post by waxwing45 » Sun Sep 22, 2019 9:45 pm

Hey everybody. I am an ornithologist and beginning hobby breeder specializing in Gouldian Finches. I have had my males and females separated for a few months before breeding season. Recently I observed that two females were engaging in courtship behavior together, including the head-bows, shakes and hops, the whole nine yards ( i have video if you would like to see it). I was wondering if anybody had observed this regularly between females, because this is the first time I have seen it in 2 years of keeping small numbers of gouldians. Thanks!

I haven't ever seen that! Would love to see the video, sounds interesting. Do you have the males in the other cage near them?
