spice finches???

Post by crumpet912 » Thu Feb 19, 2009 1:43 pm

I've a beautiful and mature male spice finch. I would like to breed him, but have been unable to locate a female. How do you tell them apart? I've the same problem with my society finch, i have a male, but can't find a female. What's the best way to tell them apart?

Take a look at the Finch Info Center link at the left column of the forum.

Bottom line... spices look similar. Only the male sings.. thats about the only ID you can do on them without doing a DNA test.

Same for societies.

Typically, this is what people are going to tell you. Buy a hand full of spices or societies or both, and let them pair off into breeding pairs and then sell back the others or just keep them. Its probably cheaper than DNA testing birds till you find hens.
Goulds, Owls, Gold Breasts, Stars, Zebras, Societies
An obscene number of chicks and eggs
And an incredibly rare St. Goldena Breast finch
Anyone want some finches???
