BCCB Story & Questions

Post by FeatherHarp » Tue Mar 17, 2009 3:20 pm

Last Sunday I was talking to a fellow finch owner at Church and we compared notes about our Owls and he also talked about his 2 BCCB males. He loves their song but says he is thinking he will have to get rid of one of them and get a Female because the two males don't get along.

He was explaining how one of the Males is the "Alpha Male" and the other one is the "Female" and the "Female" is not allowed to sing. If he does the Boss Male will take out after him and give him what-for.

Has anyone heard of this behavior between two male BCCB's? I know this happens with Budgies when there are two males....one has to become the Female.

Anyway....I strongly hinted I might be interested in one of the males if he does get a female........OK...OK...I confess....I practically begged the guy to sell me one of the males when he is ready.....I have no shame.....I really want that BCCB!!

Now how do I justify getting another expensive Finch to my Hubby!

The same way I'm doing it. Fibbing on the price. For the longest time hubby believed I traded in my parakeet for my pair of Gouldians, LOL! Now my new pair I will have to come up with something. The breeder has too many birds and is giving me the pair for a very reasonable price. I just paid for one bird she gave me the other for free because she had 2, something like that! I'm not saying it's the right thing to do and I feel good about it, but we have to do what we have to do at times. We only live once and we deserve it, is my motto :)

Go for it Deborah!!!! But then you'll have to buy a female though, you don't want your little male to be lonely do you?? LOL!!

When it comes to buying birds - the gloves are OFF!

All is fair... as long as you get the bird(s) :!:
