...a Male Strawberry finch!! I went to the bird fair in Temple, TX, yesterday, and this one vendor happened to have this little guy in with some other singles of various species. He said he had a pair, but the female got loose from the cage, and then his daughter opened the door to the building, and out the bird went. This male was pretty beat up, and he figured he'd never find a mate, so he was letting him go for $25. Don't you know I jumped on that!! He will be matched with one of my young hens, and I'll just have to hope that he is not too old. Sooo excited!! :D :D

I'll get back to the forum a little later--right now I am trying to catch up with everything. Turned on the computer to 62 emails, yellow flags all over the place on the forum, house is a wreck, and birds are wanting attention, but I just had to brag!

Actually, I went there to sell some birds. One of the advantages to having a vendor table is that you get to see everyone's birds before the public comes in the door. I even thought about not going, just forfeiting my table fee, because I only had 11 birds that I was interested in selling at this time--thank goodness I went! I sold 5 but bought 3. At least I didn't come home with more than I took.

I've already put one of my hens in the quarantine cage with this little one--am I anxious or what? So she has to go thru quarantine along with him, but I want them to get acquainted while he is still in breeding plumage. The vendor said this bird has already grown a lot of feathers back, though he is completely bald right now--he must have been really plucked bad.
