Green Twinspots (Schlegel)

Post by MLaRue » Sun May 10, 2009 7:19 pm

Hi Everyone,

I just met Donna this weekend and I'm thinking she would love the Schlegels since she loves the Painted Finch. :)

Is anyone on the forum working with this species?

Hi Donna,

Yes, I have three pairs. These are one of my favorites! I love their colors and they have wonderful personalities. :)

Misty, I have a Greenbacked Twinspot male--is that the same as the Schlegel's? I bought a pair at a mart, but the hen dropped dead while being transferred into my cage. I may be able to get another hen later this month. This guy is so sweet, but surprisingly timid for a Twinspot. He was beaten up by a Red-faced Parrot finch, but he has never picked on anyone I have put him with.
3 Purple Grenadiers, 1 Goldbreast + 1 cat.

Misty,
Do you have your 3 pairs in an aviary together or do you have each pair individually caged? They are beautiful birds.
I also checked out your photography..... breath taking :!: Absolutely beautiful :!:

And yes Donna same as a green twinspot :D

Misty, your just full of surprises. What else are you hiding over there?

Sally, I have found that my dybowski twinspots are also very timid. I have never seen them agressive at all so far in the aviary. I know thare twinspots do have a reputation for being agressive, but mine are very sweet and shy. They pretty much stay to the trees and come out mostly in the evening.

I'm sorry CandoAviary I don't know your name. :(

I do have three pairs in a flight together and so far all doing very well. As soon as the bird house is done they are going to get a huge flight all to themselves, with lots of privacy to make babies! :) We bought the insulation tonight for the bird house!!!

Thank you for your compliments! :)

Hi Donna! :)

It might be easier to ask me what I don't have in my aviary!

You will have to visit when the bird house is done and the birds are moved in there. I think I'm going to have a party! A bird party! :)

Sounds like Donna has found a kindred spirit in her neck of the woods
Wish you both were closer....I want to come to the bird house party  Misty, my name is Candace
I am also making another bird house.... I will be paosting the progress under the HOUSING section. I wish you would also post pics of your building process there also.... we all learn from one another. I think you could offer a lot of advice based on your bird keeping experience.
