5 eggs, 4 hatched. Thought there was a fawn, but all normals. One fledged on Saturday and then all 4 came out today. They aren't the best flyers.....smacking into the cage, their parents, food dishes!
Hard to get a good picture with them flying all around.

Creams are lighter than fawns.
Not sure if I'll get to see the transition from black to red beaks. I hope to place them once they are weaned.

Jordan, does shaft-tails require a lot of privacy like the owls?? every time i enter the birdroom...my shaft tails are always out. i wondering if they are sitting on their eggs at all??. today i pretend like i came out so i shut the door and sat in the corner and watch them. saw the hen went back in the nest. if i move or make a soft sound, she'll come right out. im wondering maybe they just require a lot of privacy?

I had this pair for awhile and they are not skittish of my movement. In fact, the hen will almost start eating egg or mealworms before I take my hand off the container. When they were incubating, I rarely saw her. Shy, light-sitters? Not this pair.
To me, they are very similar to Zebras. Busy, pushy, always moving around the cage.
