Parrot finches - video

Post by L in Ontario » Sat May 16, 2009 8:15 pm

In this short video you'll see why I have such a difficult time getting any good pics of these two birds! They never sit still for me but I think it has a lot to do with the red focus light that comes on on my camera just before I take a pic!

I think they are colouring up quite well. The Red Parrot Finch is pied with two tiny yellow spots on the back of his head. When he goes through his next moult - the piedness will come out much more.

Nice video Liz, thanks for sharing. All of my Parrot finches are a bit on the hyper side, especially when nesting and with young around. I enjoy it they always seem to be so happy.

Have you looked at the Related Videos to your video? They are ... interesting. I don't know how Youtube makes the association :?

Nice looking birds. Are they sibling? Or did you have 2 clutches with one chick each?
My parrots are busy also... I agree with Paul though, they seem to be the happiest little finches I have evr seen. They have definately captured my heart.

I think the Parrot finches are just more active than most, though my Goldbreasts can be pretty active, but since they are so tiny, it is not as noticeable as with the Parrots.

They are very cute birds Liz. Mine are always on the move also. First ones up in the morning, last ones down at lights out. Sometimes I can even hear them dluring the night moving around.
I would say that for sure, they are the most active birds in my aviary. I love that seagreen one! (still looking for a pied)

I wish I had two clutches...! No I bought these two as a m/f pair that I plan to breed together when they are close to a year old.
