i originally brought my two birds from a good petstore as zebra finches. But the more i read up about the birds the more im confused wether they are zebra or society. This is my prob ...
They are both completely white, 1 with red beak 1 with orange beak. The 1 with the red beak has a slightly light brown strip under both the wings.
Reading about zebras it says it should be easy to tell male from female from a circle patch on their cheeks, which neither have. Whereas when i look at them now im thinking they could very possibly be societies rather than zebras ???
Also i always thought that the male had a red beak and the female orange, but in the book it says underneath a picture that its vice versa (this could be a misprint although the more i read up the more i think what i remember from childhood could be wrong ??) HELP !!!
Any help highly appreciated thanks

Photos would help for sure but with the red (male) and orange (female) beaks, I would say they are Zebra finches for sure.
I've never heard of nor seen a Society with coloured beaks like that.
Pure white Zebra males and females do not have any cheek colouring. You can only go by the beak and song.

Re: Now i'm confused ???????
Zebra mutations can be very confusing sometimes. The whites do not get the cheek patches. The males beak will be a deeper/brighter red than the females. Only the males (of any mutation) will have the chestnut flank feathers that you referred to.
Sounds like you have CWF - chestnut white flanked.
You can google that and see many pictures.
Also, society finches never have red beaks.. they are cream, horn colored, brown and flesh tones.
