Juvies coloring up update 2/28

Post by dfcauley » Fri Nov 27, 2009 3:33 pm

Took some pictures in the aviary today of some of my juvies that are beginning to color. I am amazed at how many hens I have this time. Normally I get more males..... They are all looking so cute and I even have a few white breasted!!!

They are adorable. Boy, I wasn't that interested in gouldians until I started reading and seeing them on the forum. The colors interest me.

Too cute. That second pic with them colouring out orange/red makes it look like they have a case of the chicken pox! :D

They look adorable Donna :) I can't wait to see mine start to get color. I just have my older normal baby getting some color on his head, but that's about it. I Adore Gouldians but they do take soooo long to color up.

The only consilation is it will be fun to know if my guessing was correct :)

Such an amazing transformation. It's unbelievable how the plain looking young birds turn into some of the most beautiful birds ever. Man ! looks like every body here is enjoying the experience of having baby birds, EXCEPT me :(

How exciting... My babies are still greenish grey... Its taking FOREVER...
I think they are around 5 mths. now... Anyhow, one is getting a few small specks of color aroung the cheek area. What is the 1st area to start to change? You mentioned head area... Is that the norm? I have one that has a squawky chatter... I guess that would be a male, he started singing about a week ago...
Thanks..

Same here. But I still prefer the normals.

Thanks ! These juvies still have not colored up. Two of the hens are completely molted, but not the others.

Donna, you do such a great job with your birds. They are fantastic looking! I can't wait until mine fledge and I can see how many/what colors I have. Like an Easter Egg hunt! The 'patience' part is the downside, though #-o ! :)
