Does anybody have those? and how are they compare to RHPF?
A breeder in my area has plenty unrelated young birds for sale now, he said he is probably the only one in the US that has them, I want to get a pair but I am so hesitant since the price is high.

The peales are not as common as the red throats, blueface, or forbes parrot finches but there are some breeders in south Florida.
The parrot finches are all pretty simular in their needs, breeding, etc.
Once you get an established pair they will breed pretty readily.
I believe the parrot finches are not as popular as some of the other type finches because they are very flighty and active. In a cage they tend to be too hyper for somes liking. In an aviary they are much more comfortable and enjoyable. Enjoy them if you get some.

I would get them if I was you. But that's just me.

If you have an aviary where they can have the space they need, I'd go for it. This is one of the species that needs to be worked with to increase the numbers. If you keep them in a cage, they will grow fat and not as likely to breed successfully.

The biggest indoor space I can provide is 30x48x48.
I have an outdoor aviary which house my owls, gold breasted waxbills, BCCB and parrot finches but these birds are young (1 year) and indoor raised. Probably I can let them out in summer to stretch their wings.
I'm debating the monetary part now.

I guess it depends on how bad you want the birds. Many people buy birds that are 'rare' and expensive only to find that within a year or so they are plentiful and cheaper. You never know which ones or when. As a bird becomes more popular as a collection bird then more breeders will breed them to fill the market. Once the market is not there most breeders will move on to the next popular species. Supply and demand always set the prices.
So I always buy birds I want to keep, study, etc. and never base my decision on the market. I love the article on this site by Mike Fidler about how the peales parrot was like the city pigeons..... very numerous and considered a pest by many

I would get them too if I were you - there is only one person in the US that I know of working with them and he is in Southern CA - I'm pretty sure his name is Scott.
How many bloodlines is he able to offer? If I can ask what kind of price is he asking for them?

They are pretty but I can see why you are hesitating now
I think if I was going to invest in the rare species the Pin-Tailed would have me tripping over myself to get them... I love them

You might also want to contact Carlos to see if he has them available to compare prices.

I've never tried to contact him but I wonder if Jorge V in the Miami area know him... we could ask Jorge.
Maybe even Floyd knows of him?
