Gouldian baby

I have a nest with three 6 day old gouldians.Another egg hatched today.Do you think i should move the baby out,do you think it will get his share of food.I have a nest with societies taking care of two gouldians about three days old,should i move him to that nest,thanks for opinions,tom.

It's hard to predict what the parents will do. Personnally, I would leave the newest hatchling and see if he is being fed tomorrow. Babies don't need food for about 24 hours so no need to panic. If he's not fed tomorrow, then I would consider moving him. Good luck and please keep us posted.

6 days might be a bit too much difference, 3 days is better. I am concerned from a size point of view, where the larger chicks will out-compete the smaller one for food.

I would leave the newborn and let the parents have a shot at feeding and caring for it. Maybe they will turn out to be great parents.

I would go with fosters. The main reason being is I lost 3 babies from my last clutch as they were not fledged and 3 others were. The young ones died of starvation. I believe mom and dad thought they should all be out of the nest. It was truly a horrible experience that I had to deal with. I don't nest check too much when they start fledging as not to bother them. I do partially blame myself for that too.

I cjecked the nest and the new baby was begging for food,a little while later i noticed the parents feeding the babies.So i checked again and the baby wasnt fed,i moved her with the societies and they had fed her,tom.
