Just wondering, what are the best types of finch to keep with shafttails? I did know i would have this problem as he/she is alone in the cage, but he/she was alone at petstore as well but i thought better off alone with me, as he will get fresh egg and mealworm etc etc......
he is eating very well this morning, millet seed, boiled egg, mixed seed and his tucking in like no tomorrow :)

I have mine with my zebras, although I have heard a lot of people that keep them in a mixed aviary.

Oooh he's a handsome bloke!! Looks like my Sundance. =D>

You can try putting him in with your Societies (very passive birds) and see if he gets bossy with them. I think they should be okay but just watch them as they settle with their new cage-mate.

Congratulations! =D>

Very handsome specimen =D>

I agree with Liz, as long as he doesn't have a mate there shouldn't be a problem.

I was surprised he was still at the store as it had been a few days :) ... bartered a deal as he wasn't "in a pair" :) ... Love him to bits but dnt like seeing him in a cage by himself :( .....

Just my luck that when i went to pick him up there was a young gouldian who obviously hadn't been looked after, unfortunately the "management" hadn't set a price for him, and the other problem was my girlfriend putting her foot down and telling me to wait for the aviary to be built in new year first lol ......

He was such a cutie ..... maybe just maybe ..... but highly likely maybe not lol .... just gonna have to start building my aviary in the middle of winter lol :)

He is really attractive. I love my pair. hope you find a mate for him soon.

They are the best parents and the young are adorable. My male is a god father, all the chicks gather around him and he shows them how to eat seed and millet. If one begs he runs over before the female and feds the chick.

I have the 4 babies and I almost hate to part with them. Enjoy your male!

The aviary subject is a topic in our home to!!! More mine than my husbands.
