Is there a way to visually sex bronze-winged mannikins? I saw some at the store and thought they were cute, but they all looked identical to me!

There are no reliable visual distinctions possible. Best distinction is behavior. Males sing and dance during courtship.

I have a trio. One is definitely male since I've caught him singing, and I suspect that at least one of the others is female - they'll sit together on a perch, with him sitting tall and "her" sitting low over her feet. Known females of other species tend to sit that way, so that's my best guess. Unfortunately the two unknowns aren't banded, so I can't even tell you which is a suspected female if they're moving around the cage.
