I have found that the Finch Info Center on the left side is a great source of into. Others will chime in that know more as well, but this has been a super source for me.

Is is a European greenfinch? Like this
If its the same type of bird they LOVE black sunflower seed, and will also eat basic mixed finch seed, peanuts and millet.
I have a rescued one in my aviary that can't be released as it is not a very strong flier as it flew into a window and damaged its right wing. He lives with my flock of zebra finches and gets along with them well.
They have a lovely song too.

Yes, that's a Green Singing finch, and it looks like a male. They have a wonderful song. The few I've had have been very flighty, so that is wonderful that you have one that seems to be tame. One thing this species does like is green food, so fresh veggies, dandelion leaves, chickweed--all will be enjoyed by him. There is an article about the Green Singing finch under Species at the FIC.

He does seem very tame, I have a male and female. The female seems very flighty but my male (Stanley) just sits and listens to me while the female (Abby) flies all over the place, so I think the males might be calmer but I don't think Stanley would ever sit on my shoulder you're very lucky to have such a calm finch. Does he sing? They have such a beautiful song.

I have a lone male as well. He loves eggfood, sings pretty often too. In my opinion their care isn't much different from your regular zebra finches.

I wouldn't necessarily believe them when they say that. A guy in their fish section told me that once when I bought some guppies, he said they do that so their animals are not breeding. Funny enough, you can clearly see whether a guppy is a male or female, they are very different and they clearly had several tanks full of females.
