Hi all. My male CB has a bald spot behind his neck. I remember seeing a bunch of short soft feathers at the bottom of the cage almost a month ago and I figured they were the missing feathers from his neck but I have no clue how he lost them because he and female were the only birds in the big plexiglass cage and I know it wasn't caused by fighting or anything like that. Like I said it's been a month or more now and there are no new feathers on his neck. I'm wondering why this is and is he going to be like that for good ?

Do they have a nest, or is there a place where they might want to build a nest? CBs love feathers for their nests, so maybe the hen is plucking her mate.

They have a nest but they never even got close to it. I'm just wondering why no new feathers are growing in that bald spot on the male. I know new feathers usually start coming out within a week but it's been over a month and there's nothing.

She could be plucking as fast as they can grow back in. The other possibility is that once they have been plucked a lot in the same spot, the feathers may never grow back in. I have several birds that are permanently bald.
