More Strawberries!!

Post by Sally » Sun Feb 28, 2010 10:30 am

I made a quick trip to Atlanta yesterday, and brought home nine new Strawberries! :D Misty had decided to rehome hers and concentrate on other species, and so she offered them to me. They made the trip just fine and looking well this morning. They are quite calm for having just made a huge move.

I am so excited about this acquisition! These are mostly young, mostly unrelated, so should be a wonderful addition to my program. There are only two hens, but that seems to be the norm with Strawberries, more males than females.

And the bonus was that I got to meet Misty, and I got to go to Donna's house and see her birds and aviary! What a wonderful setup--Donna can sit right in her living room and look through this huge picture window at her birds, and the sounds come thru the screen door--heaven!

The Cherry finch baby was especially adorable, it seems to be similar to CBs in that it looks like it has come out of the nest not quite finished, very tiny, but oh so loud!

Today will be busy, catching up with the rest of the birds, and catching up with the forum, and catching up on my sleep! Again, thanks Misty and thanks Donna, I had a great time!

It was nice that you got to meet Misty and see Donna's aviary...it sounds wonderful!

Sally it was wonderful to see you again and I was a little  with envy at all those beautiful strawberry finches you got. I would have LOVED to get one of those males for my aviary, but thought better of putting two in there with one hen. Better keep it peaceful!

I know that was a quick trip for you, but we had a wonderful lunch together and got to "talk" birds. That is always a plus.

Be sure and post pictures. There was one little male that I really did admire. I look forward to seeing him again in your set up.

As usual, Misty had some wonderful birds and you were fortunate to get some of them.

What a wonderful merging of bird brains
Sally, it is great that you have the berries and I am sure you will have much success..... you seem to have the knack and I firmly believe that when you get a flock type(even if seperated by cages) that they will feel more comfortable and competative and breed more readily. Best wishes =D>

Misty, I am sure you will miss the song and bright greeting colors..... But you know they are in good hands. This is what is so great about true finch lovers... they do what is best for the birds and the welfare of that species.
I have much respect for you merging your bloodlines with Sally's birds. Hats off to you =D>
