hi everyone
I have noticed Vrystal has put up a compatibility chart for finches but the firefinch has not been included. Could you please tell me where it fits: ie:passive, pushy or aggressive as i have red firefinches and pink firefinches-we call them ruddies here in Australia. they are also known as RED BILLED FIREFINCH, AFRICAN FIREFINCH, FIRE FINCH, SENEGAL FIREFINCH, FIREFINCH, COMMON FIREFINCH, RUDDY.
I currently have 2 separate aviaries-one with a pair of red firefinches, one pair of red cheeked cordon blue's and one pair of gold breasted waxbills which i have just seen are not compatible. But my red firefinches are nesting-they have 3 eggs and are sitting tight so we are expecting babies soon, plus we have 2 button quails in that aviary.
And in the other aviary which we just bought we have a pair of pink firefinches(a mutation) and also a double mutation of lady gouldian finches which are yellow body, yellow wings, yellow underside, white vent, yellow/white head and deep purple breasted-beautiful and i want to put another compatible pair of finches in with them but dont know what yet. But i diverse.... if anyone can help with my ORIGINAL question about firetails i would greatly appreciate it.
Thankyou so much, Isabella

firefinches;
When I was breeding fires I remember them as content to be on the bottom of their cage or aviary. I don't think it is a good idea to be in with quails for that reason alone. They tend to be gentle, active and friendly. I would not put them with any assertive birds. Housing them with most other waxbills should be safe.
