SO I have 2 white zebras (both female, dont want any more zebras
2 blue breasted cordon bleu, 2 green backed gouldians

am planning on getting 2 yellow backed gouldians and 2 firefinches (red)

I was looking at lavender waxbills online, but some arent colored at all it seems?

I am considering parrot finches instead of firefinches, but the cost may prevent it

wanna sell me on your favorite finch I havent thought of or considered?

thanks!

I just love my green singers, they add a lot of character to the room, constantly jumping and doing their little flips. =D> Their song is also beautiful, finally heard it this morning. =D>

I'll second that! I love my Green Singers! They are always on the go and my male loves to play with hanging toys. He is they only finch Ive had that is amused with them. They seem to be a rather intelligent species and can be very long lived as well!

Goldbreasted waxbills are sweet and very colorful. Owl finches are very bright and curious with their own distinctive look. :D

I think if you're going to have them all in the same aviary, then I'd stay away from lavenders, shafttails and green singers. In a larger aviary they're probably be fine, but in a flight the size of yours, best to stay with all passive species.

Goldbreasts are pretty colourful, and get along with most other finches, and are easy to find around here. Orange cheeks are colourful, too, and I'm kind of partial to the tiny waxbills. Both are pretty cheap, even if you get them from Petsmart, though you'll do better if you can get them from a breeder. If you can get fire finches, I think I'd grab them!

Other than the waxbills which I love, I like all the mannekins (bronze wings, tri-colour nuns, black headed nuns, etc) but haven't seen them around here for ages! Black masked grassfinches are colourful (bright yellow beaks) and very easy going, but also hard to find.

I love the parrot finches, but just not sure how they'd do in your size aviary. They're pretty active from what I've read, they do best in a large aviary. They are about the most colourful finches there are! But very expensive!

I think it's going to come down to availability, so waxbills would be a good choice.

I agree.... I am not sure the size of your flight, but if they are in a cage with others you don't want to put the agressive birds in there.

Shaftails and lavenders can be agressive..... so can parrot finches plus they need ALOT of space.

Goldbreast are perfect and very colorful and sweet little birds.

After searching, I'm gonna try to find these finches at the big expo this Saturday

GoldBreasted Waxbills (not sure if 1 inch by .5 inch mesh is too open though, I'll see what the breeders say)

Mannikins. (love the tricolor, and some others)

Fire Finches. (red is my favorite color)

any other thoughts on those types?
