I bought a Shaft-tail finch and would like to know how the male singing sounds. Does anyone know of a site where I can hear Shaft-tail male sing? I would appreciate your help.

So far, I have heard 3 different sounds mine makes. One reminds me of a sponge rubbing against the glass :)
The other is a bunch of v. short sounds, really can't describe it.
And I have heard whistles too.

Here is this little cutie. He is doing so well on his first day.

Thanks.

Crystal, thanks a bunch for that link.
Let see what our Shaft-tail has to say in the morning when he/she hears that. :)

Sounds v. much like ours singing but not exactly.

Wow, that song clip sounds way different from my male shaft tails song. I think my males song is a bit prettier. His is more of a Weu Weu Weu, sort of like a little fire engine.

Nice shaft tail by the way. I want to get another pair as my current pair is not getting along too well. I want to eventually try giving them different partners to see if that helps. I was hoping to get them this spring but I got a little side tracked with my quail and pigeons.

I live in Western NY and paid for ShaftTail 70. I wonder how much they sell for in other regions.
I thought it was expensive but oh well, he/she is worth it I think. Very pretty coloring, such a pleasant personality and song.

What a pretty bird :D I live in Arizona and they are about the same price. It's one of the next birds on my list.

Here they sell for $129 each.

You got a bargain as far as I'm concerned!

Wow, I thought that $70 for shaft-tail was a lot, but I see that in Nebraska and Canada they sell for much higher.

Is it because they do not breed easily?
