Hi all I appologise now for my ignorence but I have seen you guys talking about soooo many diffeent spicies of finch some I have never heard of. Could you please tell me what type of finch you all have so I am i bit more clued up. Thanks........lisa............

The finches are primarily my daughter's...but we decided we didn't want to breed so we have males only.

Cordon Bleu - he was the first...he's missing all the toes off on foot
Society Finch
Zebra Finch
Black-rumped
Strawberry
Java Rice Sparrow (normal colour) - technically mine...
Java Rice Sparrow (white) - technically mine too...

...and now definately 'my' Canary!

I also have a White-capped Pionus, a Green-cheeked Amazon and 3 cockatiels and my daughter also has 2 budgies...full house!

Though I may soon get rid of the Zebra pair and the Diamond Dove pair--I am a little overcrowded right now.

My first were a white crested society and a dilute gould.
Then a pair of star finch.
Next came an lonely orange-cheek I just had to rescue, a cute pair of owl finch and another fawn society buddy.
Which then lead to 2 more male goulds (1 split for B/B and a BHWB) and 3 hens (2 YB and 1 split for B/B).
But..... I went to a bird fair and fell in love with a beautiful OHWB green back gould, so now I'm not even again...and you know what that means

Plus, I have 2 lovely cockateils.

I think my hubby is getting worried lol now how could I choose out of such a huge veriety of finch.......he thinks we gonna and up with tons of em....well

I have 1 Trio of Black-winged Red Bishop Weavers, 1 lone Grey Pied Java Sparrow, and 2 crested Societies.

Nothing to be embarrassed about--you are living our dream! Most of us would love to have the variety of species that you have--you really have a wonderful selection. I had a pair of red cheek cordon bleus years ago, and I actually like them a bit better than the blue cap, but have never seen any available in my area.

Thanks guys! My problem is a lack of self control! (My first pair of red cheeks came from Michigan, but I just got three more pairs from the recent shipment from Africa - had to get them while I could, right?. I love them too, though they seem to have a problem with their lower beak growing too fast.) I love the differences in song and behavior between all of the different species - each really is unique! If only my house was bigger, though - I'm getting to the point where I'm going to have to sleep outside for lack of room!

I am in awe of how many birds everyone has, and after looking through the gallery I have fallen in love with a few different ones. My hubby is well getting into the idea of building me an aviary, so when the chicks are ready we will hopfully be able to put them in and slowely introduce new birds, thanks to everyone for posting
