I decided it was time to update the Green singers pics....The male is somewhat elusive, the female just bouncy. While taking this I noticed they are starting to shred my silks...needing nesting material. Guess I'll be placing an order soon!!!!
The last two are the female, the pair posing in the first.

Thank you Janine...they are very good singer, long songs several times a day. I found that they love to chirp back and forth with Lucy, my lovebird.
They are starting to show great interest in one of the two nests in their flight. I just ordered nesting material and pads. Hopefully this will make them very happy and they will stop shredding my plants.

Mine are in the aviary. I have never heard the male sing. I guess I am in the house when he does.

John, try to listen around 6...6:30 that is about when mine do it. The sing in the morning to but I never really look at the clock then. The singing later in the day is when we really notice since it is dinner time for us. Music to eat by. I found the male loves to sing everyday at this time. He also seems to sing from up high when the female is down on the bottom in the food dish...I gusee he is giving her a song to eat by also. Watch your female and see where the male is, see if he serenades her.

Love that dotted necklace on the female

I had a female but she passed suddenly not too long ago. I tried for some time to get her a mate:(

Your Green Singers look fantastic Cindy! Have you had any chicks from them? I can't recall.

Not yet Liz. They have filled out nicely and are little pigs...love veggies especially chopped romaine, grated egg and shaved brocoli tops, they clean the dish.
I ordered sisal and nesting cotton from Bird supply of NH, as soon as that comes in I will give them some and stand back and wait for eggs!
I would love to get anther pair but will settle for young!

I'll get another pair...eventually!

This is the view from the kitchen table, my seat is statigically positioned so I can watch the Green singers during meals! I have thought about moving them into the main room with the rest of my birds but it is a little busy in there.
They seem to be doing well were they are and are nervous if I move their cage even to the other side of the room they are in. They tolerate the dogs playing, people coming and going. That does not fluster them. Even feeding them they go to the highest perch and sit and wait until I am done.
The only thing that gets them flustered and they fly crazy around the cage is if you come to close and just stand there. I am hoping this location will be fine when they start nesting. They are the only pair of birds in the front room.

Aww I'm sure they will be fine there. My pair are in the birdroom surrounded by other birds. I do not go in there much other than to feed and water the birds about twice a day. But I agree the Green Singers do get nervous even when I do just change their food and water (and of course look at their 3 chicks that are getting so big now).
