New buddy!

Post by bayfield_finch » Fri Dec 26, 2014 3:09 pm

I posted a question a few weeks ago about adding a new Zebra to existing finch that lost his friend in August. I was nervous about adding a new finch, since Ace is a bit older I wasn't sure if it would be too much for him. I am happy to report that Ace and his new friend are getting along splendidly! Within a couple of hours they were cuddling on a perch and are now sleeping together in Ace's nest.

I had Ace in a Petco finch cage, but bought another finch cage to keep them separated during those first days. After seeing somebody else on the forum had joined two finch cages by removing panels and zip tying the two cages together I decided to try it. I have never seen happier finches! Their happy chirps have been filling the house and to watch them flutter back and forth, being able to spread their wings, makes me equally happy! Thanks for all the great advice - Ace thanks you too!!

Glad that has worked out for you, and happy for Ace! Finches need companions, but they usually would much prefer another bird (especially their own species if possible) to a human.

I need to redo my bird room, and I am thinking I would like to join some of my cages to make longer flights. The more flight room we can give them, the happier and healthier they will be IMO.

Oh so glad for Ace, and you as well. They are so much happier when they have company of one of their own kind.

Would love to see a picture.
