Sleeping zebra finchH

Post by jacannah » Fri Feb 06, 2015 5:28 am

Hi I have 3 zebra finches 2 white & one chocolate brown colour. my male zebra finch unfortunatley died. leaving me with a female and she had two babys. Which I have been told are female also. They are getting on really well and love to come out of there cage. My female has layed two eggs which I have replaced with fake eggs. I have noticed in the last 2-3 days all she wants to do is sleep either in her nest on the perch even as we speak she is out of the cage fast asleep on the corner of my sofa. just want to know if this is normal if she is ok as she was such a lively bird flying around with her babys.

I'm so sorry you lost your zebra hen! Sometimes the finches get aggressive if they are trying to build a nest and want feathers or they are too many in too small a cage or there is competition for mates. I lost my GS hen to her mate, after he plucked out most of her feathers on her back and neck. She died in my hands. So sad. He later plucked another hen, but I caught that before she was too injured.
