Re: My Finches
From the time the parents start incubating, or sitting tight, it will be about two weeks. You can find a lot of information on breeding here: http://www.finchinfo.com/breeding/index.php

Re: My Finches
Wow, this is so exciting!! I think mine are getting to this point... It's so funny, i thought when i got my birds, i was doing something "different" by buying the white female and the regular colore male, now on this site (and others) i see that is actually very common!! Your couple looks just like my Melvin & Charlotte!! (see my profile pic) Maybe seeing the colors of your babies will give me an idea of what mine will look like!!! Congrats again, hoping you nothing but the best with your first clutch!!!

Re: My Finches
Im getting worried....today is the 14th day and none of the 3 eggs have hatched yet
The male and female (mostly the female) are constantly incubating them.

Re: My Finches
ranasrule welcome to the forum!
Give it a few days.... That will determine if the eggs are fertile or not. I'm sure they will hatch soon, don't worry.
congrats!

Re: My Finches
Sometimes, when you think the birds have started incubating, they really haven't started sitting tight. They may be in the nest, which fools you into thinking they are incubating, but they won't start sitting tight for another day or two. It is not at all uncommon to be off several days or even up to a week on the estimated hatching date.

ranasrule
I know this post is a couple weeks old, and I apologize for that (I haven't been keeping up with the forum as well as i could be
) Just checking in. Any luck with chicks? I'm assuming no, because we haven't heard from you. But wanted to check in with you. Also, do you know how old your birds are? Sorry if you didn't get any chicks, but what i've learned from this forum, is they WILL try again!!! So keep your head up

Re: My Finches
Generally about two weeks from the time she starts sitting on them full time you can expect them to hatch.

Too bad, that you didn't get babies this time around.
But there is always next time. Give your birdies a proper nest, and some fresh nesting material, and watch what happens. Sometimes, it takes them a while to learn how to do things right.
Then we'll be getting a post from you: How do I get my Zebras, to stop breeding???
