FINCHMAN1959 First of all welcome to the forum! There are many of us who have zebra finches, myself included. There's also a lot of information available including information on breeding zebra finches. There's a link on the left that will get you there. Its the finch information center.

Sometimes they take a little while to figure it out. Practice makes perfect :D May I ask what your feeding them? When breeding they require a lot of protein so egg food is definitely a must. Also what type of nest have you provided and how old are the birds(if you know). What is your cage set up and how many birds? A picture is always appreciated, we love seeing each others birds.

The eggs are likely infertile and they are cleaning the nest, removing, eating the infertile eggs.

Out of curiosity are you providing the hens with some form of calcium (so they aren't consuming their shell in order to gain it) or something with protein like egg food? Some hens will break and eat their eggs because of a nutritional deficiency.

Hens will also break eggs to eat them because they taste good. That can be a very hard habit to break.
