Zebra Finches and preening??

Post by Ctfinch » Wed Jun 03, 2015 7:05 pm

So I just got this little girl today, my male feel in love with her and they wont leave each others site! They are too cute! But I am wondering if this is preening or something else? From my knowledge and from what I've seen on YouTube, this appears to be my male preening and helping her groom I assume? Tell me what you think!

Here is the video of them preening? I think....

and just for fun, here is another video of them when I first put her in the cage!

Being new to finches I couldn't say with any authority as to preening. But it looks like it to me. I have a pair of gouldians that nibble each other and the male feeds the female.

Deffinitely preening....it's funny cuz the one getting preened will go from the "aaaaahhhh" face and have his/her neck and head all distorted funny so the Preener gets the neck.... then the preener will get a spot they don't like, and the preenEE (?) snaps back, and moves away...like "hey Watch it bub!!!" it's pretty fun to watch though... Seriously, since I got birds... I watch WAY less TV!!!!
