New to the forum.
Hi, I am new to the forum. My parents used to breed finches and canaries when I was a child and show them at a bird club in Astoria NY. I am thinking about getting into the hobby myself but I am a bit unsure with where I should start. I am currently living in South Carolina and I haven't been able to find any information on a bird club or a breeder around the Hilton Head SC area. Any information would be appreciated.

I don't know of any clubs or breeders in that area, but perhaps someone else will be able to help you. Welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on finch care. If you put your general location in your profile, it will help later on when answering questions.

Welcome to the Forum.
Sounds like you're coming from a good bird raising background
Not sure about any bird clubs in your area, but will definitely keep an eye out, if I hear or find anything that's available, and will let you know. We're there any particular species that you were interested in?

I am defiantly interested in gouldians but I heard they can be a bit difficult to breed and I want to avoid zebras for the opposite reason. I also like the cordon blues.

Welcome to the forum!
I think you'll do very well with gouldians. They are not any harder then any other species.

Re: New to the forum.
Welcome! Hopefully there are some breeders and shows in your area. MS doesn't have any. There are quite a lot in Florida. Once you get your birdies we look forward to pictures
