Re: Finches breading like crazy
Unfortunately, Zebras are the rabbits of the finch world. They will breed with a nest, and they will try to breed without a nest, using a seed cup or even the floor. The only positive way to stop them breeding is to separate the sexes and have one all-female cage and one all-male cage. Or rehome all of one sex and keep only all males or all females. It is hard to even find homes for Zebra finch babies, since they are so prolific.

Re: Finches breading like crazy
Hi there,
I keep an all male flock (2 zebbies, and 1 star finch). My zebbie males are very happily flocking together and my old star finch has his reflection (he doesn't like other birds, and tends to attack them).
No eggs, no eggbinding (which is very distressing - and I've had several affected canary and finch hens), and manageable numbers.
Good luck
Kind Regards
Zebrafincher

Diane.... On sites like Craig's list, refrain from offering free birds. Do a $5 rehoming fee per bird, if you need. Free birds can wind up as snake food.
Check with mom and pop pet stores. Some may not buy them, and some will. Some will allow you to 'donate ' them and then sell them, which is ok if they sell them reasonably.
Just let whomever know if they are related birds so that they don't get kept by themselves and in-breed.
