My Gouldians -whether to separate.
Dear All,
Below are my gouldians.Out of them a pair has form a bond and they sleep together on a nest.They are currently living in the colony.Shall I separate them from the flick for breeding or is it alright if they breed there in colony.

They can breed in a colony, but I personally would remove them to their own cage to breed. Otherwise, you have to consider the chicks related to everyone in the colony. If you separate, you know for sure who the parents are.

Well, whether to breed in colony or not will depend on how big your aviary is, how many pairs you have, if you have enough nests...
As soon as one pair starts breeding, the others will want to play as well, and whe can have some serious fights if the competition raises

Yeah, so so
I had some problems with a male tossing hatchlings, and with nest abandonment from another pair, but as all of the birds are first breeders i was expecting some issues.
