Personally, I think it's the best for you to sell the black crown because they aren't the cheapest and the easiest birds and start with something easier, like javas or silverbills, if you really want waxbills I'd say st. helenas for beginners.

I think you can replace with a society. They usually are pretty peaceful and get along well with other species. In time if you want to add another waxbill and your cage is large enough you can, but for now, a society should be fine.

Thank you for your suggestions! I think I will take one of the new society babies my mom is waiting on and see how it goes from there. Hoping their crested like their daddy
