If we bred a red head with another red head would we get red head chicks ? I have a feeling its no but without having specific answeres im just "thinking my way along"
We have bred zebras for some time but wanted giuldians when we saw how beautifull they were.
after more than a year of searching we finally have some but we still have lots of questions l. I hope the lovley people on this forum will point us in the right direction

2 RH's will give you RH chicks unless there are hidden genes you are unaware of
Best of luck

In that calculator it looks like you can only get australian yellow results and not the yellow body we have here

Thank you. I couldnt get on the genetics tab at gouldians galore but it could be because im using my phone.
The other sites look good though and ive saved thrm so I can check back.
The parents are red (although I need to check what orange are

) but I wasnt expecting yellow chicks and i dont know what the adults parents were. so I think its going to be more of a lucky dip. Will be nice to find out anyhow.
Thanks again

Just a note, unless you have Australian yellows that link that 608duj posted to a calculator isn't going to help you.

Lol. I have no idea what the difference is.
Im in the uk and I thought all gouldians came from australia.
Ive learnt alot in the last few weeks but with so many sources it can get a bit muddled and relevant info lost in masses of text etc.
I appreciate the help

If you get a chance you could post pictures of your birds and we could all have a stab at what they are to help you out.

thanks for all the help.
none of the birds have yellow tips to their beaks so i guess they must be red head. i dont really know what difference it makes though, do they have different chicks like the dilute male ?
getting pics of the birds is hard especially since ours are in cages but i got a few of the male and the female he seems to be interested in. (should be included if i did it right ).

I take it that if this black head female and dilute male breed we would get a mix of black heads and red heads ?
