Birds need to eat eggs. Is that any eggs?

I wanted to ask about eggs for birds. I have two canaries and some chinese painted quail incubatin (due any day) as some of you know.
I've read that quail hens can pop eggs out quite frequently though may not always bring some together to sit on.
This could mean I have a lot of spare eggs, won't have space to find homes for all of them or incubate many.
Can these quail eggs be prepared and used to feed my canaries and the quails?

Yes, you can feed them any kind of egg as long as its cooked very well. I usually hard boil for 15 minutes at least, then after cooling, cut them in half with shell on and let them pick at the parts they want. Mine don't like them put in the processor.
If you have a free supply, why not use them. I hear people like eating quail eggs also.

Definitely use any kind of bird egg. You will have to experiment to adjust the cooking time, as 15 minutes is what I do for chicken eggs. A quail egg is so much smaller that it won't take long to cook at all.

May try that first, would cut down a lot on the preparation. The woman two boats down from me is the most amazing chef and she has already asked for any spares I have.

I tried just steeping one of the infertile ones I had in hot water and it was a bit soft - I was gonna eat it myself
It came out a bit soft so boiling, for a short time is the way to go

Quail eggs are considered a delicacy by many, I'm sure she would be delighted to receive any spares!

This is my recipe for egg food:
- 2 hard boiled eggs
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/3 cup plain couscous
- 1 scoop kaytee exact bird formula
Add boiling water to couscous in small bowl, allow to sit for about 5 minutes. Peel eggs and mash with a fork to a fine consistency. Fluff couscous with fork and stir into eggs. Add bird formula and mix ingredients WELL. I store the unused part in the refrigerator in a bowl with a lid. This lasts my 9 adults and two chicks about one week. I give them a fresh portion every morning.
