My finches are fighting

Post by David » Mon Sep 22, 2014 1:13 am

Any ideas why my finches keep fighting when put different ones together in a cage? I always keep one pair in a cage, is there anyway I can find out which one get along with other one? Cuz some of the pair chase each other one day and other day better and preening each other. I just feel headache when see them make hissing sound or harass other one :? Any suggestions what should i do? Is there anyway I can put few pairs together? I heard that must be at least 3,5,7...pairs. Which have to be Odd numbers and not even number is that right?

how big is your aviary? and are you sure all are pairs? any single male would make this problem plus if the cage/aviary is small it will also make them fight on the space...
adding to it if they are mating they will be fighting on nests.... you have to take this into consideration , i have 7 pairs in the same aviary and they are doing fine...

another point ....try putting them in 2 separate cages near each other for like a week so they get used to each other then put them in the same cage... this might help.
