Zebra gouldian bond?

Hello all! i have an a&e double flight with 2 bonded societies, 3 zebra brothers (2 penguin and one normal) and an owl finch. I was told the owl was a male but that's not the case. The two penguin zebra bros always slept together. The owl and the normal zebra slept together. A few days ago one penguin male took over the sleeping spot of the normal zebra next to the owl and has been relentlessly attacking the poor normal zebra. I got the poor guy out of there into a regular flight cage. I'm getting him a girlfriend tomorrow. The other little penguin male is now the odd man out in the double flight. I' have tried to find another female owl to no avail. I have a chance at getting a female gouldian for a great price from a going out of business breeder. Could a gouldian female bond with a sweet male zebra. Not talking breeding. Just buddies.

Is it not possible to get another Zebra for the od man out?

A Gouldian and a Zebra...... could be very iffy, they are very different birds, more than just the colours, very different temperaments. Gouldians don't like to snuggle and cuddle like Zebras and Societies.

Can you maybe pick up a male Society Finch somewhere, if not another Zebra?

I've mixed zebras and Gouldians with great results.

(In fact, once my Gouldian babies color up and I can determine gender, I'm going to see if one of the females will be mates with my mama's boy zebra. Not breeding mates; friend mates, like yours.)

As for whether they'll get along, it really depends on the individuals. Gouldians are a more laid back species; zebras are a bit pushier. But Gouldians are a fair bit larger so the zebras generally don't bother them in my experience. (And in the couple cases where a zebra was pushy with a gouldian, the gouldian just backed off.) So this isn't a pairing where you're apt to see combat. Chances are they'll get along just fine.

My Gouldians are super cuddly (the entire family of 6 sleeps piled in their nest, society finch-style.) So they *can* be cuddly like a zebra. It just depends on individual temperament and the flock culture.

So indeed, I think it could work very nicely. I personally wouldn't hesitate to pair a Gouldian and a zebra.
If the choices are leaving the zebra as an odd man out OR pairing him with a Gouldian, I'd definitely pair him with a Gouldian.
