Hi all, im wondering what is the best way to house my goulds and society's after breeding. Do you typically separate the bonded pairs? Is it best to put them in male/female flights? Or can I keep them in pairs without a nest?

I never separate my gouldian pairs, even when I had them in cages. I also never took out nests except to clean them. That being said there are many people that take out nests and house them in same sex flights when not breeding. It's more about what works best for your situation.
Couldn't say about society's because I've never had one.

good luck

I never separate bonded pairs.
If they're happy where they are currently, I'd just let them be.
You can just pull out the nest. I usually offer a shelf instead. Or you can keep the nest if they enjoy it. (You just need to peek in there regularly to ensure there aren't any eggs!)

Great! Didn't want to split anyone up. I'm up grading their cages so maybe new cages without nest boxes. Thanks for sharing. :)

I will say this kyle just be careful with your bonded pairs, as mine started making nests out of EVERYTHING and ANYTHING they could... Melvin would take the empty (sometimes not empty) millet sticks and place them in a seed dish, then make the "this is our new nest Charlotte" noise, and she'd come over and lay an egg... I mean seed cups they really didn't even fit in!!! Crazy... so just be careful, and I recommend getting one of those kits with the fake eggs.... everytime she lays I replace it with a fake egg.... and now she's sitting comfortably...BUT she treats that cup like a nest so if the fledges come near it they get her wrath...but not for much longer as they are all doing well, I'm just waiting to see them all drink water on their own... hopefully in the next week or two they will be completely weaned, and "Princess Charlotte" will have her cage back... BTW i tried separating Charlotte and Melvin.. BIG MISTAKE.... it was AWFUL.... I couldn't do it... I had to put them back together, it was.... just pure HELL... so if your pair's are anything like mine, I wouldn't recommend separating them (although that's what EVERYONE on here told me to do) i think sometimes no matter what people tell you no matter how expert they are, you know your birds better than anyone, and you know when they are happy and what's going on with them.. I realized I don't give myself nearly enough credit regarding my birds... So listen to yourself, and your birds before making any major decisions!!!
