Hi, i have a question about sleeping habits of the zebra finch, because i have noticed the past night that they have slept outside of the nest, the eggs hatched from the 6th of December and had 6 eggs, of which, as i can see there is 4 hatched, this is their first nestlings, and i just wonder if it is normal that they sleep outside?
Although i may know the answer?
It is our first time with the Zebra Finch, and we was told to use a pear shaped nest, we gave them the choice of a pear and a wooden attached to the door of the cage, they choose the pear shaped.
Could it be that it is too small for them to stay in, and this is why they stay outside? and will this cause any problems for the nestlings?
They do go to feed them through the day.
Many thanks

No worries
.
Once the chicks are feathered, it is not unusual for the parents to spend more time out of the nest. At this stage, the chicks can keep themselves and each other warm.
As long as the parents are feeding, your babies should be fine.
