Zebra Finches and Flying
I'm moving to a different state. I have 5 zebra finches all full grown. However, we're flying to the destination and I keep hearing that Southwest will not take them on board at all. I am very confused. I don't want to have to give them away as these birds technically belong to my daughter. Any advice would be appreciated.

DanielleMBrown Yes, Southwest Airlines does not allow any pets at all, either in the cabin nor in the checked baggage section of the aircraft. They simply don't deal with pets period. If they find the finches, they will not allow you to board the aircraft with them.
Delta Air Lines and United Airlines both allow birds in the cabin. However, they will charge a fee (usually around $150 one way). If you decide to go that route, I can tell you how to carry the birds on board the aircraft.
You can ship them on United for about $100 or on Delta for about $160. You can ship them USPS for about $50 (though technically it is illegal, and you must purchase a special shipping carton that is allowed on USPS. On the airlines, you will need a carrier of some sort.
