When to foster
Hi, Started breeding gouldians and this is my first season. I have four pairs on eggs. One of the pairs was sitting for about 10 days when they started abandoning the nest before nightfall and only sit during the day ? Should I rather move the eggs to foster parents nest (Bengalese) ?

Welcome to the forum!
If your society's were not prepared for eggs they probably will not just start sitting. In an emergency you could add the eggs to one of your other gouldian pairs.
good luck, keep us posted

I won candle the eggs, to see if they're fertile, before deciding what to do with them.

Re: When to foster
Hi, Back again. I decided to give the pair a chance and worked for me, in the end two eggs hatched, although later than expected.Supose it was because of the irregular sitting. My first babies and I learned to be more patient and give nature a chance. Cant wait for the other two pairs that is sitting on 8 and 4 eggs.

Very happy for you.
I've learned the hard way, not to rely too much on what I think should be the 'due date'. Sometimes we don't count right, sometimes we don't know if they are truly sitting tight. So it's always a good idea, to give eggs at least an extra week past the estimated time of arrival.
